Travelers need a travel authorization to visit Canada for Business or Tourism.
Visa-exempt visitors entering Canada must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). Travelers can submit the eTA application online. Once the application is approved, travelers receive their eTA confirmation electronically.
An eTA is electronically linked to a passport and valid for up to five years. If travelers receive a new passport, they must apply for a new eTA.
A valid eTA is required to board the flight. If the eTA is expired or doesn’t match the traveler’s passport information, travelers will not be able to board their flight. Travelers who are permanent residents of Canada or the United States do not need an eTA. Please see the source for details.

Most applications are approved within 15 minutes. Governments do not guarantee processing times, so be sure to submit your application as early as possible.

How long can I stay in Canada with my eVisa?
You are able to stay in Canada for up to 6 months. If you wish to stay longer, please refer to the information at the top of this page to see if there are any long-stay visa options. If there are none, please contact your nearest Canadian embassy or consulate for more information on how to extend your stay.
How long is my Canadian eTA valid for?
Your eVisa is valid for 5 years from the arrival date included in your application.
