Travelers need a visa to visit United States. Beginning January 1, 2026, the United States has suspended new visa issuance for immigrant, tourist, business, and student visas, with limited exceptions. The suspension does not affect: -United States permanent residents (green card holders); -Travelers with valid visas issued before January 1, 2026; -Travelers in the United States on January 1, 2026; -Certain visa categories, including diplomatic and special immigrant visas; -Other nonimmigrant visa categories not listed above. Beginning January 21, 2026, immigrant visa issuance is separately paused. Check the official government source for more details.
